Once you’ve chosen the right York furnace line, you should focus on the energy efficiency ratings of the available models. All furnaces are measured with an AFUE rating. That rating designates exactly how much of the fuel the furnace consumes is turned into heat. So, a furnace with an AFUE rating of 80% converts 80% of the fuel it consumes into heat.

York furnaces all have at minimum AFUE rating of 80%, a fantastic rating for your home regardless of your current energy use. However, if you’re interested in substantially reducing you carbon footprint and bringing down your monthly energy bills, each furnace has models that carry significantly higher AFUE ratings. For example, the Latitude TG9S offers compact heating with a 95.5% AFUE rating. The LX Series provides variable ratings up to 96% AFUE and the Affinity 9.C Gas Furnace has an AFUE rating of up to 98%, the highest in the industry.

There are other factors to consider as well, such as the blower speed and noise produced. You should also consider how often it is recommended that the furnace be serviced and the modulation for exact temperature control. The Affinity 9.M and 9.C models both offer 1% incremental controls to address temperature control on a minute level.
